Scheduling
Applies to:
All Employees
Policy:
Your restaurant operates seven (7) days a week, twelve (12) months a year and in most cases this does include Christmas Day. Many of our restaurants are also 24 hour operations. Scheduling properly is critical and your Management Team takes are to schedule sufficient staff to handle the projected volume for a particular day part. At the same time, we offer flexible hours that ensures that your personal schedule is accommodated whenever possible.
Your Schedule
The schedule will be posted four (4) days prior to the next work week. The schedule will be based on your Availability Agreement that you provided when you were hired. If your availability changes, please complete a new form promptly and provide to your Manager
Schedule Changes
If you are unable to report at your scheduled time to illness or other emergency, you must phone the restaurant as soon as possible, preferably a day in advance but no less than two (2) hours.
Requested Time-Off
When you want specific time-off, please submit a written request to the Manager at least two weeks prior to the posting of the schedule. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
During busy holiday seasons, your restaurant may implement a cut-off policy of only committing to a certain number of employees being granted the days-off.
Time Records
Time recording equipment is in each restaurant to ensure an accurate record of your work time for pay purposes. You are expected to be in uniform and to be clocked-in just before you report on the floor for work. You must clock in and out personally for each of your shifts, including breaks. You must never clock in or out for another employee under any circumstances. If at any time you feel there’s been an error made in the number of hours you have been paid for, please ask the Manager to review the time sheets for the days in question.
Additional shifts
From time to time, you may be asked to come in to work on a shift when you are not scheduled. If you come in, you will be guaranteed a minimum of two (2) hours. On occasion, you may also be asked to continue to work past your scheduled time. Of course, you will be paid for all time worked.
Students/Flexible Schedules
We want to ensure that your work experience compliments your education and doesn’t distract from it. To make sure that occurs, we provide flexible working hours to accommodate your classes, homework and extracurricular activities. As well, a short-term leave of absence can be arranged for exams or other school related activities.
